Terms and Conditions of Entry
Eligible works
- Artists can enter only one work or one work consisting of a series of components.
- These may be either existing works or proposals for new works.
- Works must be indoor and not site-specific.
- Works must not weigh more than 200 kilos or measure more than 134cm X 196cm and must be able to be handled and exhibited safely within a public art gallery environment.
- All works must be the original work of the artist and be the property of the artist.
- While we encourage artists to explore the boundaries of the subject matter, works that are deemed unjustifiably offensive will not be considered for inclusion. As a basic guideline, artists should refer to the OFLC's Classification Code. (http://www.oflc.gov.au/resource.html?resource=60&filename=60.pdf.)
Who can enter
- Entry is open to all Australian residents 18 years and over.
- It is the artist's responsibility to acknowledge any artistic collaborators as they consider appropriate.
Entry Procedures
- Entries can only be submitted online at http://www.art.adultshop.com.
- Entries must be submitted by the artist. Third parties are not eligible to enter works on the artist's behalf.
Important Dates
- Entries must be submitted online no later than 5pm Friday December 1st, 2006. Late entries will not be accepted.
- Artists selected for the exhibition will be notified by mid January via email.
- Finalists will be required to deliver works between February 2nd and 16th 2007. The address for delivery will be provided.
- The Exhibition will run in Perth over the month of March 2007.
Display of selected works
At the discretion of the curatorial team, ARTRAGE and AdultShop.com, selected works will be chosen to be exhibited as part of the adultshop.com Erotic Art Prize.
- All entries remain the property of the artist.
- All selected artworks will be displayed at the discretion of the judges, ARTRAGE and AdultShop.com.
- The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- If for any reason the Event is not capable of running as planned in any respect due to any cause beyond reasonable control of ARTRAGE or AdultShop.com, ARTRAGE and AdultShop.com reserve the right at their sole discretion to cancel, postpone or amend the event subject to the directions of any competent authority.
- This is not a commercial exhibition. However, it will be signposted that people interested in purchasing a work may express their interest to the exhibition manager and gain direct contact with the artist.
Reproduction of works
- All artworks selected for the Event will be featured on the Event web site and in related printed materials.
- The Artist agrees to release the right for ARTRAGE and AdultShop.com to reproduce their artwork and acknowledges that his/her artwork may be reproduced in any form whatsoever and be used free of charge for the marketing, advertising, merchandising, reporting and other elements of both the Erotic Art Prize and the exhibition. Any additional usage will be negotiated directly with the artist on a case by case basis.
Transport and insurance
- Transportation of artworks to and from the ARTRAGE Bakery Complex is the responsibility of the artist.
- Transportation of artworks to and from the ARTRAGE Bakery Complex and the exhibition space will be arranged by AdultShop.com.
- Whilst all reasonable care will be taken, neither ARTRAGE nor AdultShop.com Ltd will be held responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever or however caused, to any work while in their custody. Each selected artist is responsible for acquiring his/her own insurance to cover the artwork's transportation and presence in the exhibition.
Prize and Participation Fee
- One prize of $10,000 for the 2007 adultshop.com Erotic Art Prize will be awarded to one finalist at the sole discretion of the judges.
- Each of the finalists selected to participate in the exhibition will be awarded an artists fee.
